Muscadet Sèvre et Maine Sur-Lie 2011

Leia em Português

This Muscadet Sèvre et Maine Sur-Lie from Domaine de la Chauvinière was produced from vines surrounding a wind mill, planted in granite soil. It’s clear in appearance, with a pale lemon-green colour. On the nose it has intense aromas of green fruits (green apple), floral fragrances and herbaceous (grass) notes, with mineral hints (stony). On the palate is ample and harmonious, with a long finish.

Can be served with shell-fish, seafood and fish, or on its own, as an aperitif.

Tasting Oremus Tokaji Late Harvest 08

Tags :

This Oremus Tokaji Late Harvest 08 is a rich and lusciously sweet wine from Hungary.

On the nose it’s peachy, with hints of cooked orange and dried fruit. Vanilla, butter and honey reveals the oak and the ageing.

On the palate, reaffirms the orange, and reveals some dried fruit (preserved fruit) notes. Its medium acidity balances the sweetness very well. A very good wine, ready to drink!

A 375ml bottle costs around €20.

Tasting Monterucco Riesling 08

Tags :

The Wine:
Produced by Monterucco, this 2008 wine is made from Riesling Italico, a high-yielding grape in northeast Italy. In most cases, it produces fairly bland wines. At its best, it delivers light wines with pronounced flowery aromas. It’s produced in the DOC Oltrepò Pavese, It has 12,5% alcohol.

In the eye:
Nice goldish-yellowish color, quite different from the regular Rieslings.

On the nose:
Pineapple pops-up almost immediately, followed by compote, honey, floral, and something veggie – lovely!

On the mouth:
Low tannins and less acidity then it should be, but the pineapples and the green apples are all there! It got a bit sour in the end, but even though it just highlighted a subtle honeyed after taste.

I found this an interesting wine, with such complexity on the nose and mouth. Very good, if not outstanding when considering the QPR. EM90/100!
